If you walk into a crowded casino, bypass the slot machines, head straight for
the table games and see people leaning, crouched around a table watching a
wheel spin while a little ball skitters to a stop, chances are, you are looking
at the roulette wheel. When it stops and the ball falls onto the number a
person is hoping for, you usually hear a little squeal, or at least see a big
smile. If not, the expressions of the people watching the roulette wheel
usually turn somber.
What does the roulette wheel look like?
The wheel, the star of the roulette gaming experience, has compartments called
“pockets”. All of the pockets can be red, black, or green. The numbers 1-36
alternate between red and black. Only the 0 and 00 are green. The numbers 1-36
are arranged in a way that equally disperses black and red, high and low, and
odds and evens.
