In most games of chance, the dealer has an advantage. In the game of Pai Gow,
the dealer’s advantage is about 2.5%. However, when the player is also the
banker (dealing the cards), the odds break to about even. The house edge drops
just to a little over 1%. A good Pai Gow Poker Strategy is to play the banker
as much as possible.
Pai Gow Poker: The Banker Strategy
Some people don’t opt to play this Pai Gow Poker strategy because it doesn’t
boast as big of payouts as some other styles. Still, the player is already
playing a close to break-even game with other hidden advantages. The player
needs to remember the 5% commission that is paid to the banker on winning
hands. So, it often pays to assume the role of banker.
